A Pure Inorganic ZnO-Co3O4 Overlapped Membrane for Efficient Oil/Water Emulsions Separation

چکیده
The earth's environmental problems, especially for water remediation, need effective methods to solve. Materials with special wettability are developed for the separation of oil/water mixtures. However, the separation of emulsified oil/water mixtures can be a real challenge. There is still much deficiencies, on account of the surfactant, which could link water molecules and oil molecules to form a stabilized system. Here we report a pure inorganic ZnO-Co3O4 overlapped membrane to give a brand new solution to emulsified oil/water mixture separation. Fabricated by an easy and cost-efficient way, such a membrane combines the properties of under-water superoleophobicity and under-oil superhydrophobicity, which can be successfully used for the efficient separation of both surfactant-free and surfactant-stabilized emulsions, solely driven by gravity. This ZnO-Co3O4 overlapped membrane shows great potential applications to industrial wastewater treatment, domestic sewage purification and other water remediation.

Preparation of blend hydrophilic PSF-SPEEK ultrafiltration membranes for oily wastewater treatment
Membrane separation is known as an efficient technique for the oily wastewater treatment. Therefore, in the present study, sulfonated poly (ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) was introduced into the polysulfone (PSF) solution in order to enhance the hydrophilicity and the membrane structure for the oil–water separation. The hollow fiber membranes were fabricated via a phase-inversion process. The memb...

Oil-polluted water is a worldwide problem due to the increasing industrial oily wastewater and the frequent oil spill accidents. Here, we report a novel kind of superhydrophilic hybrid membranes for effective oil/water separation. They were prepared by depositing CaCO3-based mineral coating on PAA-grafted polypropylene microfiltration membranes. The rigid mineral-coating traps abundant water in...

The separation of oil from water in emulsions is a great environmental challenge, since oily wastewater is industrially produced. Here, we demonstrate a highly efficient method to separate oil from water in non-stabilized emulsions, using functionalized cellulose fiber networks. This is achieved by the modification of the wetting properties of the fibers, transforming them from oiland water-abs...
